Eight triangular pillars simultaneously flared

Eight triangular pillars simultaneously flared to life, flooding the space with blinding, cold white light. Eight people were restrained against them, their legs spread wide apart and their wrists suspended above their heads. They were all still clothed, but their garments had been deliberately cut away to leave them almost completely exposed. The women’s tops consisted of only a few thin straps, leaving their chests bare, while little more than narrow strips of fabric remained around their waists. The men’s trousers had been pulled down to their upper thighs, leaving their lower bodies exposed. The remaining fabric dug tightly into their skin, making their vulnerability all the more apparent.
